Great piece of Commercial Aviation History.

General Air Express was founded in 1932 to compete against R.E.A “Railway Express Agency” cargo delivery service for the Civilian market. Neither company was profitable enough alone and eventually the 2 companies merged. All but one of the original small-time carrier services lasted in to the early 1980’s, The Flying Tigers, only to be bought out by modern day, Fed Ex.
