Joe Wolvertin from Carbon, Indiana, was a pioneer musician on the Chicago area radio stations in the 1930s. A favorite on WLS radio.
He was heralded as “Americas foremost banjo-guitarist” and played along side Gene Autry and Les Paul.
In the 1940’s he left Chicago for Hollywood and formed his own band, the “Local Yokels” with musical partner Frye Peters
