Vintage Harley-Davidson Photo Poster – The Founders

$9.99$39.99

In 1901, 20-year-old William S. Harley drew up plans for a small engine designed for use in a regular pedal-bicycle frame. Over the next two years, he and his childhood friend Arthur Davidson worked on their motor-bicycle using the northside Milwaukee machine shop at the home of their friend Henry Melk. It was finished in 1903 with the help of Arthur’s brother Walter Davidson. Upon testing their power-cycle, Harley and the Davidson brothers found it unable to climb the hills around Milwaukee without pedal assistance, and they wrote off their first motor-bicycle as a valuable learning experiment. Throughout the years they would continue to improve upon their new invention.

They would continue to work on their motor bikes until 1907 when company was officially incorporated. They also began selling their motorcycles to police departments around this time, a market that has been important to them ever since.

This print is professionally printed edge-to-edge on high-quality glossy/luster photo paper. All prints are on finger-print resistant 10 mil (0.25 mm) thick paper, and YES, even the largest prints are on photo paper, unlike everyday posters.

A lot of time and effort was put into restoring the decades of wear, tear, and fading of the original. We hope you’ll love the print as much as we loved restoring it.

Note: Thanks for checking out this print. The original is from a excellent quality photo, and should look sharp on any size poster. We would offer this printe in even larger sizes if we had the means. That being said, be sure zoom in to the close-up sample pic to see the full definition of the print. Thank you
