Vintage Molenaar Harley-Davidson Police Photo – 1940 Knucklehead

$9.99$12.99

Riding a right-hand shift 1940 Knucklehead. This original print photo was done on a heavy fiber-based paper coated with baryta. A tint (sheen) was added on the final print. This is a super-coating that accentuates the fibers of high-quality prints for the purpose of exhibition and archiving.

It was a preferred photo type by the Harley-Davidson Factory to class up the authorized dealer’s “Salesman Samplers” leather binders in the 1930’s and 40’s to give a more professional appeal over the Indian Moto Co.  It kept finger prints off the photos by providing a hard-coating because of the gelatin like layer. This is the reason the reproduction comes with light hexagonal texture.”

Note: Because of the coating the image doesn’t scale well. This will cause larger prints to appear slightly blurry. Unfortunately, there’s nothing we can do to correct for this. Therefore we’ve limited the print size to 13″x19″.

This print is professionally printed edge-to-edge on high-quality glossy/luster photo paper. All prints are on finger-print resistant 10 mil (0.25 mm) thick paper, and YES, even the largest prints are on photo paper, unlike everyday posters.

This photograph, and many others like it, is a reproduction from the estate of Harry Molenaar. A lot of time and effort was put into restoring the decades of wear, tear, and fading of the originals. We hope you’ll love the print as much as we loved restoring it.
